Biblical Anti-Venom (Antidote) for a Contradictory Report

Very rough draft of this but I share as this is a busy season and perhaps it will help someone…

You may find yourself at some point with either a symptom or a report from a doctor, or expert, or person of influence that is direct contraction with what the Word of God says about you.

I am going to pick a doctor’s report as an example. There are no formulas in Christ, I share as inspiration , as something to think about.

The doctor walks into the room with some results from whatever tests he/she has run. Flipping through the document and pointing out some key data points, the doctor suggest a diagnosis of XYZ. The problem is the Word of God says XYZ is impossible for you as Jesus has born all our diseases and weaknesses and infirmities (see 1 Peter 2:24 and Isaiah 53 below). What is a biblical way to respond?

A bold and biblical response might be to pull up these verses and show them to the doctor and say:

“I really appreciate your opinion and your understanding of the data. Thank you for helping me narrow down the possibilities and helping me to potentially understand the threat I am facing. The challenge I have is I have a conflicting report from another physician, one that I have put my trust in for my whole life. See in the Bible it says that none of the diseases in the Bible can come upon me right here… [show doctor the verse]…. but clearly there is something at work here trying to establish something in spite of his report. Thanks for helping to equip me to neutralize the attack on my health. I need a moment to address the issue. If you want to be present while I do that, you are welcome to stay.

In the name of Jesus Christ, the Word says right here that XYZ is impossible in my body, that nothing shall by any means harm me and that by Jesus Stripes I was healed. XYZ you are disallowed, I reject you and all your assignments and disallow all symptom [list symptoms that you have experienced] and assignments associated with you. [Name body parts targetted by XYZ] you are healed and made whole in Jesus Christ’s name, all damaged parts be recreated in perfect health.”

This first declaration is critical….. it makes for a much easier path forward.

WHY?

We are snared by the words of OUR mouth. Life and death is in the power of the tongue. The tongue steers the whole ship.

However, we also must recognize that our mouth will ultimately speak what we let into your hearts. So guarding our hearts about all things is essential for our words to echo ONLY what God says.

Confessing one fact one minutes and God’s truth the next does not yield results because we are literally changing the rudder of the ship back and forth and getting nowhere fast.

Your emotions don’t steer the ship, your actions don’t determine the course. Your words do. Full stop.

The Bible says that we are snared by the words of our own mouths. Not the doctor’s, not a friends, not any other authority on earth. Life and death is in the power of our own tongue. And no man can tame the tongue without the grace (influence of the Holy Spirit, divine help).

Please pay special attention to the first verse I have listed below.

Now the enemy will likely come and accuse you of all sorts of false things trying to get you to change your confession. Here are some that I have experienced.

condemnation “look at you, lying down, not fighting this, you are so defeated because you are giving in”

truth, I am laying down to focus on holding my tongue, getting into a quiet place to hear and receive from God, or rest allowing God to send his angels to strenghthen me or my own mind and body time to be quiet and more rested before I tackle what I am not in the right frame of mind to speak from. Hold your tongue until your thoughts are lined up with the Word and your body is rested enough to choose words of life.

Pity party “This is just too hard, no one can live like this, I am too tired, too angry too disappointed, too exhausted to fight, I give in, I am never going to overcome this……” basically the enemy comes and in first person tells you that you have already lost because your emotions are not biblical in the moment.

Truth: The enemy can put thoughts in your mind and can trigger emotional outbursts temporarily. Praise and thank God until your emotions come around. They will your emotions must follow the confession of your mouth if you position align yourself with God’s Word. Praise and thank him until peace comes back before opening your mouth to say anything else.

Shame:”I am so pathetic, What will other people think?” What God thinks is all that matters. Jesus had to push aside the shame of the cross. Shame is something we must reject and refuse to take on regardless of who or what tries to put it on us. Knowing Him and our identity in Him is key here.

2 Peter 1King James Version

Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:

Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,

According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;

And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;

And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

11 For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

1 Peter 2:24King James Version

24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

Isaiah 53 NLT “

Who has believed our message?
    To whom has the Lord revealed his powerful arm?
My servant grew up in the Lord’s presence like a tender green shoot,
    like a root in dry ground.
There was nothing beautiful or majestic about his appearance,
    nothing to attract us to him.
He was despised and rejected—
    a man of sorrows, acquainted with deepest grief.
We turned our backs on him and looked the other way.
    He was despised, and we did not care.

Yet it was our weaknesses he carried;
    it was our sorrows[a] that weighed him down.
And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God,
    a punishment for his own sins!
But he was pierced for our rebellion,
    crushed for our sins.
He was beaten so we could be whole.
    He was whipped so we could be healed.
All of us, like sheep, have strayed away.
    We have left God’s paths to follow our own.
Yet the Lord laid on him
    the sins of us all.

Matthew 15:18King James Version

18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.

Proverbs 6:2King James Version

Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.

Proverbs 18:20-22King James Version

20 A man’s belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled.

21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

22 Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the Lord.

For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.

Behold, we put bits in the horses’ mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body.

Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth.

Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!

And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.

For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind:

But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.

Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.

10 Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.

11 Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?

12 Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh.

13 Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.

2 Corinthians 1:19-22English Standard Version

19 For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, whom we proclaimed among you, Silvanus and Timothy and I, was not Yes and No, but in him it is always Yes. 20 For all the promises of God find their Yes in him. That is why it is through him that we utter our Amen to God for his glory. 21 And it is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us, 22 and who has also put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.[a]

Exodus 15:26King James Version

26 And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the Lord that healeth thee.

Deuteronomy 7:14-16New Living Translation

14 You will be blessed above all the nations of the earth. None of your men or women will be childless, and all your livestock will bear young. 15 And the Lord will protect you from all sickness. He will not let you suffer from the terrible diseases you knew in Egypt, but he will inflict them on all your enemies!

16 “You must destroy all the nations the Lord your God hands over to you. Show them no mercy, and do not worship their gods, or they will trap you.

Deuteronomy 28:27King James Version

27 The Lord will smite thee with the botch of Egypt, and with the emerods, and with the scab, and with the itch, whereof thou canst not be healed.

Proverbs 4NLT

My child, pay attention to what I say.
    Listen carefully to my words.
21 Don’t lose sight of them.
    Let them penetrate deep into your heart,
22 for they bring life to those who find them,
    and healing to their whole body.

23 Guard your heart above all else,
    for it determines the course of your life.

24 Avoid all perverse talk;
    stay away from corrupt speech.

25 Look straight ahead,
    and fix your eyes on what lies before you.
26 Mark out a straight path for your feet;
    stay on the safe path.
27 Don’t get sidetracked;
    keep your feet from following evil.

One thought on “Biblical Anti-Venom (Antidote) for a Contradictory Report

  1. Thank you for this Lisa! I would rather begin by saying nothing at all that activates unbelief. I pray God helps the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart to be pleasing to Him and BOLD to create Kingdom realities here on earth by any words that proceed from my mouth.
