    • Matthew 6:31-33 World English Bible (WEB)
31 “Therefore don’t be anxious, saying, ‘What will we eat?’, ‘What will we drink?’ or, ‘With what will we be clothed?’ 32 For the Gentiles seek after all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well.”

    • It amazes me that Jesus sent them out with virtually nothing and yet provided for all of their needs. This is a BIG KEY to the Kingdom. Humanly speaking, we look to ourselves and to other human sources very easily. Expecting and seeking for God to provide from nothing is something that we are not so comfortable with. I am praying for God to help my mind really grasp this biblical fact. GOD IS JEHOVAH JIREH and He will faithfully provide every time.

      • Yes indeed this is a hard thing to fully take in as we constantly hear more stories of Christians suffering lack and being in great need but not enough testimonies of how those needs were actually taken care of. I too want my mind and faith to come into complete agreement and trust this way. Rob and Wendy I know you have lived with this very real test of needing financial provision… something I’ve never really been tested on personally … the scary place of having nothing to meet the very basic needs of food , shelter and safety. Feeling much for people now who are in business …KC

    • Psalm 81:10-16 World English Bible (WEB)
10 I am Yahweh, your God,
who brought you up out of the land of Egypt.
Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.
11 But my people didn’t listen to my voice.
      Israel desired none of me.
12 So I let them go after the stubbornness of their hearts,
that they might walk in their own counsels.
13 Oh that my people would listen to me,
that Israel would walk in my ways!
14 I would soon subdue their enemies,
and turn my hand against their adversaries.
15 The haters of Yahweh would cringe before him,
and their punishment would last forever.
16 But he would have also fed them with the finest of the wheat.
I will satisfy you with honey out of the rock.”

      • This verse comes to my mind often. God longs to feed us with the finest wheat. I had to repent even yesterday as I said that there may come a time where we are thankful for eating the very same foods (like the manna in the wilderness). But really, that was never God’s best plan. He prepares a feast for us in the presence of my enemies. Rational thinking can so easily abort and limit the plans and provisions of God.

    • The OT verse of the same flavour Deuteronomy 2:7 World English Bible (WEB)
7 For Yahweh your God has blessed you in all the work of your hands. He has known your walking through this great wilderness. These forty years, Yahweh your God has been with you. You have lacked nothing.

    • I think that this is such a hard concept for us as humans to accept, that He will provide all that we need. I prayed a prayer when I was 18 years old and told the Lord that I wanted to learn how to live by Faith. At the time I of course had no idea what I was asking and sometimes over the years have regretted that prayer LOL, but He has never failed us, even in the seemingly most difficult circumstances. He has always been faithful. That doesn’t mean it has been easy, but I have been so thankful in all of it. It’s interesting that even though we have lost all of our income for the foreseeable future because of this virus, I am strangely calm and trusting in Him. Not perfect at it by no means, but He keeps reminding me that everything is from Him. None of it is ours anyway.

“And He said to His disciples, “For this reason I say to you, do not worry about your life, as to what you will eat; nor for your body, as to what you will put on.

Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap; they have no storeroom nor barn, and yet God feeds them; how much more valuable you are than the birds!

Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; but I tell you, not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass in the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, how much more will He clothe you? You men of little faith! And do not seek what you will eat and what you will drink, and do not keep worrying. For all these things the nations of the world eagerly seek; but your Father knows that you need these things. But seek His kingdom, and these things will be added to you. Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has chosen gladly to give you the kingdom.”

      • I don’t know why when I cut and paste it doesn’t put the verse number ahead of each verse??? Anyway near the bottom of what I posted in the Luke I love that He says, “And do not seek what you will eat and what you will drink, and do not keep WORRYING.” The caps are mine. Then “but your Father knows that you need these things.” That is so comforting.

        Wendy

      • Yes for sure your lives together facing this over and over and your testimony has been an awesome testimony of His faithfulness. I’m seeking the Lord to prepare me and that He would find me responding with faith if ever the time of testing me this way personally because I’ve never struggled with anxieties about basic survival needs . His grace and provision have always been abundant.KC

        • You have had other struggles Karen, where He has showed you His faithfulness and you recognized it. It is so cool how He deals with all of us in different ways to accomplish the same goal of us seeing our need to be totally dependant on Him and how He provides for us.
2Corinthians 9”but He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you(My loving kindness and My mercy are more than enough—always available—-regardless of the situation): for (My) power is being perfected (and is completed and shows itself most effectively) in (your) weakness.” Amplified
One of my very favourite verses that gets me through and encourages.
          Wendy

    • Good morning beloved! Just finished a beautiful walk in the sun!
This is such a wonderful verse in how they were immediately able to testify that even though we never took anything that one would consider most important items for functioning ..they were able to perceive that thy lacked Nothing? Silly musing perhaps but do you think they walked around without sandals ?KC

  1. Luke 9 World English Bible (WEB)
9 He called the twelve together, and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases. 2 He sent them out to preach God’s Kingdom and to heal the sick. 3 He said to them, “Take nothing for your journey—no staffs, nor wallet, nor bread, nor money. Don’t have two coats each. 4 Into whatever house you enter, stay there, and depart from there. 5 As many as don’t receive you, when you depart from that city, shake off even the dust from your feet for a testimony against them.”

6 They departed and went throughout the villages, preaching the Good News and healing everywhere. 7 Now Herod the tetrarch heard of all that was done by him; and he was very perplexed, because it was said by some that John had risen from the dead, 8 and by some that Elijah had appeared, and by others that one of the old prophets had risen again. 9 Herod said, “I beheaded John, but who is this about whom I hear such things?” He sought to see him. 10 The apostles, when they had returned, told him what things they had done.

    • So many scriptures repeat this.

      Amp Luke 10:19
Listen carefully: I have given you authority [that you now possess] to tread on [d]serpents and scorpions, and [the ability to exercise authority] over all the power of the enemy (Satan); and nothing will [in any way] harm you.

We must contend to have this our common experience.
      Rob

      • Amen! He has given us so much, and we absolutely must press into it and allow Him to reveal our full capacity to us. Andrew Wommack and Kenneth hagin have very encouraging teachings called “The Believer’s Authority”. THIS is absolutely a central KEY to the Kingdom being expressed in and through our lives.

    • Where the message is not received… shake off the dust. I find it very interesting how we can so easily add to God’s instruction. Many of us feel like failures if others are not convinced by our testimony and yet these verses plainly say that the responsibility for receiving or not receiving the message falls on the town or the hearer. God is not giving us an impossible assignment nor does He have the expectations on us that we can put on ourselves. I need to continually ask Him to free me from the “add-ons” that my human lens and upbringing and cultural mindsets add to His Word. Truly His yoke is light.

  2. He took them and withdrew apart to a desert region of a city called Bethsaida. 11 But the multitudes, perceiving it, followed him. He welcomed them, spoke to them of God’s Kingdom, and he cured those who needed healing. 12 The day began to wear away; and the twelve came and said to him, “Send the multitude away, that they may go into the surrounding villages and farms, and lodge, and get food, for we are here in a deserted place.”

13 But he said to them, “You give them something to eat.”

They said, “We have no more than five loaves and two fish, unless we should go and buy food for all these people.” 14 For they were about five thousand men.

He said to his disciples, “Make them sit down in groups of about fifty each.” 15 They did so, and made them all sit down. 16 He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to the sky, he blessed them, broke them, and gave them to the disciples to set before the multitude. 17 They ate and were all filled. They gathered up twelve baskets of broken pieces that were left over.

    • I am very visual, so to have this scene to imagine helps. God was able to take their insufficiency and multiply it so abundantly that over five thousand people. I need to think about this over and over. Somehow there is a balance between this reality and that sometimes God tells His people to gether and store things like in the passages about Noah and Joseph

      • Yes … living with this balance is key and seeking Him for how that provision is to be met in each circumstance is essential and likely will be even more essential in the days aheadKC

    • vs 13 “you give them something to eat”… There are certain parts of the Kingdom’s expression that God has delegated and assigned to His disciples. If we don’t understand these distinctions, we will spend hours in prayer asking God to do something that He has given us the authority and the walking orders to carry out. This can lead to immense frustration on the part of mankind. “I have prayed and prayed and God has not answered my prayer”. The answer in this case very often can be found plainly in scripture. We understand that God has delegated the preaching of the gospel to mankind and only as the exception does He reveal Himself through personal visitations, angelic visits etc. To know “our part” we must be sincere in seeking out the Word and the Lord. This requires commitment, discipline and time… Three things that absolutely required of any disciple/student. It is convicting to think that many of us have invested more time in our studies at a school/college or univeristy/ in developping hobbies and/or perhaps entertainments/sports than we have invested in knowing God’s Word or God Himself.

      • That’s great Lisa. Yes there is quite a lot here, which takes time to digest etc. Look forward to tomorrow. Blessings on your day all.

        Love, Wendy ❤️

      • Thank you Lisa! These times together have been a precious provision , feasting on the Word . Though not physically in a place of hunger because of ‘lack ‘ He has been faithfully bring deep spiritual nutrition that’s so needed in this time to build immunity spirit soul and body! KC

  3. 18 As he was praying alone, the disciples were with him, and he asked them, “Who do the multitudes say that I am?”

19 They answered, “‘John the Baptizer,’ but others say, ‘Elijah,’ and others, that one of the old prophets has risen again.”

20 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”

Peter answered, “The Christ of God.”

21 But he warned them, and commanded them to tell this to no one, 22 saying, “The Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders, chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and the third day be raised up.”

23 He said to all, “If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me. 24 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever will lose his life for my sake, will save it. 25 For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses or forfeits his own self? 26 For whoever will be ashamed of me and of my words, of him will the Son of Man be ashamed, when he comes in his glory, and the glory of the Father, and of the holy angels. 27 But I tell you the truth: There are some of those who stand here who will in no way taste of death until they see God’s Kingdom.”

28 About eight days after these sayings, he took with him Peter, John, and James, and went up onto the mountain to pray. 29 As he was praying, the appearance of his face was altered, and his clothing became white and dazzling. 30 Behold, two men were talking with him, who were Moses and Elijah, 31 who appeared in glory, and spoke of his departure, which he was about to accomplish at Jerusalem.

    • Good morning. Seems like it will be a warmer day today.

I’ve always wondered about vs 27 where he says that some of them standing there with Him will not taste of death until they see God’s Kingdom. Does that mean I wonder that their eyes were opened to see that Jesus actually brought the Kingdom to Earth when He came? Thoughts?
      Wendy

      • I have mused many times that John might still be around today. Of all the disciples, there is no clear record of his death.. only the failed attempt to boil him to death in oil and his exile to an island. The other possibility is that Jesus meant Pentecost, when the Kingdom would be poured out into them. I am inclined to wards this way of thinking

      • 27 But I tell you the truth: There are some of those who stand here who will in no way taste of death until they see God’s Kingdom.”

Right away, eight days later, Peter, John and James were witnesses of Jesus in glory with Moses and Elijah. Maybe!!!
        Rob

    • Amplified
23 And He was saying to them all, “If anyone wishes to follow Me [as My disciple], he must deny himself [set aside selfish interests], and take up his cross daily [expressing a willingness to endure whatever may come] and follow Me [believing in Me, conforming to My example in living and, if need be, suffering or perhaps dying because of faith in Me]. 24 For whoever wishes to save his life [in this world] will [eventually] lose it [through death], but whoever loses his life [in this world] for My sake, he is the one who will save it [from the consequences of sin and separation from God].

These verses have helped me immensely over the years. It truly is a daily walk with Him.
      Rob

      • Yes ! And more alive and meaningful than ever before as the Spirit of the Lord is emphasizing this speaking this more intensely than I’ve ever been able to receive it before. He is SO faithful to lead us into greater eyesight and ability to perceive as we truly seek Him. I’m often reminded of the blind man sight being healed with that second touch that was necessary to see even more clearly! KC

    • This is immediately followed by the command to die to self and follow Him… walk as He walked.. These two things back to back are a firm warning that we may well have to face tribulations and even death. God says we will suffer as Christ suffered . Mentally, he told them in advance so they could prepare themselves and remain in joy and peace when they unrolled. I often marvel at my own ability to know “head” knowledge wise that certain things have to happen and yet still be moved to worry and fear experientially when it actually happens

      • Yes me too Lisa, our human condition. That’s often when I go back to 2nd Corinthian 12:9-10, to be encouraged that He is made strong in our weakness.
        Wendy

    • Vs 30-31 about Jesus being with Moses and Elijah. I don’t think it ever really hit me before that they were talking about the coming things of Jesus death and resurrection and all that would lead up to that. So cool and also that Jesus seemed to know exactly what He was getting in to and still had His face set like flint to go to Jerusalem. I never want to take for granted the magnitude of what He did for us. Thank you Lord Jesus for going to the cross, dying for me and giving me a way to have a relationship with the Father.

      Wendy

      • Praise the Lord, Thank you Yeshua.. Precious Lamb of God… Mighty Redeemer… This glimpse of how thin the “veil” is between heaven and earth is also interesting. We see these moment where the two seem to exist on the same plane. Also interesting that Elijah was taken up alive while Moses is recorded as having died and yet both appear here seemingly in the same form and glory. Potentially we put a far greater distinction on “not dying” than the Kingdom does.

        • “how thin the veil is”

I agree. There are days, especially, over the last 10-12 years, I have been aware that the veil is thinner almost, so to speak. Words can’t describe. Also through miraculous experiences.
          Rob

    • vs 29. So interesting that His face became altered. Jesus said in Matthew 25 that whatever we do for the least, we do unto Him. Considering that Isaiah 53 says He was not a “handsome” man… to those who perceived Him on earth.. I wonder what He looked like in this moment of His glorious self being revealed. Also potentially explains why they may not have recognized Him post resurrection. He perhaps looked very different physically. Thoughts?

      • Yes , This is so interesting that experienced an altering of his face to the extent that people couldn’t “handle’ the change. And the Lord Yeshua needed to be perceived now differently than when He was in the flesh but there was definitely some sort of transition that happened for the disciples as they learned they could no longer relate to Him as they did before ..in the flesh. KC

  4. 32 Now Peter and those who were with him were heavy with sleep, but when they were fully awake, they saw his glory, and the two men who stood with him. 33 As they were parting from him, Peter said to Jesus, “Master, it is good for us to be here. Let’s make three tents: one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah,” not knowing what he said.

34 While he said these things, a cloud came and overshadowed them, and they were afraid as they entered into the cloud. 35 A voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is my beloved Son. Listen to him!” 36 When the voice came, Jesus was found alone. They were silent, and told no one in those days any of the things which they had seen.

37 On the next day, when they had come down from the mountain, a great multitude met him. 38 Behold, a man from the crowd called out, saying, “Teacher, I beg you to look at my son, for he is my only child. 39 Behold, a spirit takes him, he suddenly cries out, and it convulses him so that he foams, and it hardly departs from him, bruising him severely. 40 I begged your disciples to cast it out, and they couldn’t.”

41 Jesus answered, “Faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you and bear with you? Bring your son here.”

42 While he was still coming, the demon threw him down and convulsed him violently. But Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, healed the boy, and gave him back to his father. 43 They were all astonished at the majesty of God.

But while all were marveling at all the things which Jesus did, he said to his disciples, 44 “Let these words sink into your ears, for the Son of Man will be delivered up into the hands of men.” 45 But they didn’t understand this saying. It was concealed from them, that they should not perceive it, and they were afraid to ask him about this saying.

    • So much here!!!

Amplified 29 As He was praying, the appearance of His face became different [actually transformed], and His clothing became white and flashing with the brilliance of lightning. 30 And behold, two men were talking with Him; and they were Moses and Elijah, 31 who appeared in glory, and were speaking of His departure [from earthly life], which He was about to bring to fulfillment at Jerusalem. 32 Now Peter and those who were with him had been overcome with sleep; but when they were fully awake, they saw His glory and splendor and majesty, and the two men who were standing with Him. 33 And as these [men, Moses and Elijah] were leaving Him, Peter said to Jesus, “Master, it is delightful and good for us to be here; we should make three [sacred] tents; one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah”—not realizing what he was saying. 34 But even as he was saying this, a cloud formed and began to overshadow them; and they were [greatly] afraid as they entered the cloud. 35 Then [e]a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My beloved Son, My Chosen One; listen and obey and yield to Him!”

One thing I Love is that Moses and Elijah were discussing of Jesus coming departure from earth, and second, Peter wanting to build alters for Moses, Elijah and Jesus. God almost rebukes Peter and states that no, its all about Jesus.
      Rob

      • True ..and it says he was suggesting these tents be set up…not really understanding what he was really saying. Another moment where the Lord could have turned to him and said. ‘you don’t know from what spirit you speak? How many times do we move and think out of a religious spirit and the Lord shows grace and correction over and over. I so depend on His faithfulness to do this…as like Peter I’m sure I have said and done things out of not having a revelation.KC

    • 41 Jesus answered, “Faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you and bear with you? Bring your son here.”

Mathew 17.17 and Mark 9:19 repeat this response from Jesus.

We ask for Faith to move mountains.
      Rob

    • vs 32. Very interesting that the need to sleep and deep weariness can be spiritually induced. KEY TO THE KINGDOM: Not letting our physical or emotional state determine our actions.

I have personally felt that heavy spirit of slumber before at times I needed to be awake or when I needed to stand firmly against a lying symptom. It can just zap our energy and all of our drive to the point of just wanting to sleep and do nothing.

      • 32 Now Peter and those who were with him were heavy with sleep, but when they were fully awake,…. that’s when they were able to perceive what was happening.
This heaviness of sleep I’ve learned over the years is a manifestation of being under the influence of the enemies attempt to keep us from ‘hearing’ and perceiving….I witnessed over the years when gathered with the saints to take in the Word…how many people had to fight through that numbing sense of heaviness which is quite different than being a little sleepy…it’s definitely a spiritual battle and if aware it can be resisted. The body over the years has been referred to as a “sleeping giant “ that needs to awaken, and I feel God is bringing grace and awareness now more so for the need to throw off that ‘heaviness and temptation to just escape into sleep…. if this makes any sense?KC

    • vs 37-40. This is one of my favourite passages to encourage people with when they don’t see healing. Jesus’ own disciples “could not” cast out the demon from the child or see him healed and yet, Jesus completes the task with ease. Jesus said “seek first the Kingdom” not the men of God. Couldn’t just isn’t part of the expression of the Kingdom or Jesus . Jesus healed them all. Jesus’ rebuke sums it up. “faithless generation”. This echoes the verse about the definition of sin in the NT.. Anything that is not of faith. Jesus follows up the dialogue by encouraging them to figure this out so that when He was gone, they could continue the work…. I am entirely convinced that if someone doesn’t get healed, the rebuke falls on me.. not on the sick person, and not on the Lord. Jesus loved the disciples dearly.. This is not a harsh rebuke of condemnation or judgement but one of truth folllowed with an admonition to move on and out of the place of unbelief that was limiting them. Jesus is always calling us higher, into a place of greater peace and greater ability to express His Kingdom to others.

    • Jesus saying in vs44 “Let these words sink into your ears,……. They didn’t understand but it was also concealed from them and they were afraid to ask. I wonder if He realized after saying let it sink in, that they would not be able to handle it at that time? How often, I wonder does He do that with us.

      Wendy

    • Biblical fact: Sometimes people cannot hear something because it is “concealed” from them. I have been deeply convicted about tryin to convince anyone of anything. How precious is it that the Lord did not need to convince anyone even though He was faithful to speak the truth to those who wouldn’t so that the truth would be out there already for us today and for them when they were ready to hear it. How often have I not heard or rejected the truth because of this reason? I will never know. But this certainly motivates me to share as Jesus shared.. Simply, directly and without the need to convince at all and total trust that it will be heard at the right time by the right ears.

  5. 46 An argument arose among them about which of them was the greatest. 47 Jesus, perceiving the reasoning of their hearts, took a little child, and set him by his side, 48 and said to them, “Whoever receives this little child in my name receives me. Whoever receives me receives him who sent me. For whoever is least among you all, this one will be great.”

49 John answered, “Master, we saw someone casting out demons in your name, and we forbade him, because he doesn’t follow with us.”

50 Jesus said to him, “Don’t forbid him, for he who is not against us is for us.”

51 It came to pass, when the days were near that he should be taken up, he intently set his face to go to Jerusalem 52 and sent messengers before his face. They went and entered into a village of the Samaritans, so as to prepare for him. 53 They didn’t receive him, because he was traveling with his face set toward Jerusalem. 54 When his disciples, James and John, saw this, they said, “Lord, do you want us to command fire to come down from the sky and destroy them, just as Elijah did?”

55 But he turned and rebuked them, “You don’t know of what kind of spirit you are. 56 For the Son of Man didn’t come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them.”

    • Direct disarming of the spirit of competition and envy/jealousy. Jesus was promising that whoever (as many as) take the position of the lowest will be the greatest. The reality is that we can all be the greatest if we all contribute as much…. Our heavenly rewards and positions will be a direct reflection of our actions and life.

KEY TO THE KINGDOM: Where there is unlimited supply there is no need for a pecking order

We had a lovely cat name Aslan. He was my kitty first, and I raised him up from a kitten. So naturally, he had an affinity for me above others. On a particular day, I remember my husband and I both sitting in a room, and feeling a particular sense of delight (honestly one upmanship) when our cat chose my lap over my husband’s.. Really really silly in hindsight.. And God spoke to my heart and said, I can be just as present and love all my children just as much at the very same time.. My cat had to choose between the two of us, so having a favourite was possible. God is free from the need to have favourites as He can treat us all completely as we deserve withouth needing to grade us or position on bell curve.

    • Again, so much in these verses.

55 But he turned and rebuked them, “You don’t know of what kind of spirit you are. 56 For the Son of Man didn’t come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them.”

How many times I have allowed a spirit to enter my thoughts that looks for destruction, too many to count. It is absolutely humbling. My ways are not His ways. I cry out for complete transformation and redemption.
      Rob

    • vs 49-50 I find it so fascinating when Jesus flips human sayings around. So many human sayings are actually a perversion or a reversal of Kingdom principles.. He who is least will be greatest.. “Anyone who is not against us is for us”…. Interesting to consider this in the number of people who invest hours and energy to “expose” others who are preaching and healing and working in the name of Jesus. Jesus just was not concerned about those who didn’t really know Him, representing Him in this way. It is quite a mystery. Kind of flies in the face of God being a micromanager who needs to control every detail of our lives to have His big picture plans work out. There is somehow room in the expression of His kingdom for those who don’t know HIm to still accomplish things for His glory.

      • Personally quite a relief and convicting as I have felt grieved by this kind of thing and have (in error) tried to “correct” things that I did not agree with in the lifestyle, teachings and/or message of others out of fear of the Lord being misrepresented. Nowadays, I am mostly convinced to let Him work on me and to commit others to Him unless very specifically prompted to do otherwise. There is much more peace in my thinking and hearset today then my former one, which readily judged and would tie up my thoughts for excessive amounts of time trying to “figure out” how to set others straight. So thankful for the gentleness and power and room He gives us to grow as the seed sown in our hearts is given time and room to grow.

      • Yes totally agree. He is so much bigger than we can even think or imagine. The verse that comes to mind is, our thoughts are not His thoughts and His ways are not ours ways.

Love you all, blessings on this Sabbath tonight and tomorrow.❤️🙌
        Wendy
