Growing up into the full measure of Christ (Including preaching the Gospel, healing the sick and setting the captives free) & Embracing our New Identity in Him
Joshua 14 New Living Translation (NLT)
14 The remaining tribes of Israel received land in Canaan as allotted by Eleazar the priest, Joshua son of Nun, and the tribal leaders. 2 These nine and a half tribes received their grants of land by means of sacred lots, in accordance with the Lord’s command through Moses. 3 Moses had already given a grant of land to the two and a half tribes on the east side of the Jordan River, but he had given the Levites no such allotment. 4 The descendants of Joseph had become two separate tribes—Manasseh and Ephraim. And the Levites were given no land at all, only towns to live in with surrounding pasturelands for their livestock and all their possessions. 5 So the land was distributed in strict accordance with the Lord’s commands to Moses.
I love how Joshua and Eleazar strictly followed the plans that God had given to Moses. God always has those that obey Him and that is a comforting thought in these days.

6 Then the children of Judah came near to Joshua in Gilgal. Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite said to him, “You know the thing that Yahweh spoke to Moses the man of God concerning me and concerning you in Kadesh Barnea. 7 I was forty years old when Moses the servant of Yahweh sent me from Kadesh Barnea to spy out the land. I brought him word again as it was in my heart. 8 Nevertheless, my brothers who went up with me made the heart of the people melt; but I wholly followed Yahweh my God. 9 Moses swore on that day, saying, ‘Surely the land where you walked shall be an inheritance to you and to your children forever, because you have wholly followed Yahweh my God.’
7 I was forty years old when Moses the servant of Yahweh sent me from Kadesh Barnea to spy out the land. I brought him word again as it was in my heart. 8 Nevertheless, my brothers who went up with me made the heart of the people melt; but I wholly followed Yahweh my God.
I love that “it was in my heart” and “I wholly followed Yahweh my God”

Deut 18:1 “The Levitical priests, all the tribe of Levi, shall have no portion or inheritance with Israel. They shall eat the Lord’s food offerings[a] as their[b] inheritance. 2 They shall have no inheritance among their brothers; the Lord is their inheritance, as he promised them.
Caleb is reminding Joshua of what had happened 40 some years ago, but I wonder if it was to the people that he was talking, because most of those that were going in to Canaan would not have remembered or some not even been born yet. God made sure that none of the first generation that came out of Egypt would see that day except Joshua and Caleb.

10 “Now, behold, Yahweh has kept me alive, as he spoke, these forty-five years, from the time that Yahweh spoke this word to Moses, while Israel walked in the wilderness. Now, behold, I am eighty-five years old, today. 11 As yet I am as strong today as I was in the day that Moses sent me. As my strength was then, even so is my strength now for war, to go out and to come in. 12 Now therefore give me this hill country, of which Yahweh spoke in that day; for you heard in that day how the Anakim were there, and great and fortified cities. It may be that Yahweh will be with me, and I shall drive them out, as Yahweh said.”
13 Joshua blessed him; and he gave Hebron to Caleb the son of Jephunneh for an inheritance. 14 Therefore Hebron became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite to this day, because he followed Yahweh, the God of Israel wholeheartedly. 15 Now the name of Hebron before was Kiriath Arba, after the greatest man among the Anakim. Then the land had rest from war.
Now, behold, I am eighty-five years old, today. 11 As yet I am as strong today as I was in the day that Moses sent me. As my strength was then, even so is my strength now for war, to go out and to come in.
Yes , This certainly speaks of a provision God gives if we “follow Him wholeheartedly. Strength and purposes to fulfill even in old age! If the scriptures didn’t tell us how old Caleb was and you ventured a guess he comes across like someone in their thirty’s or forties with the full measure of vitality.
Caleb had this drive to “destroy the works of the enemy” “ it may be that Yahweh will be with me, and I shall drive them out… as Yahweh said.! Reminds me of the way Smith Wigglesworth went about healing. He just went right ahead and expected God to be there, Oh I’m so aware of my own reticence and cowardness yet I se the need for and want this ‘Caleb boldness”! KC
Ephesians 5:10-12 New Living Translation (NLT)
10 Carefully determine what pleases the Lord. 11 Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, expose them. 12 It is shameful even to talk about the things that ungodly people do in secret.
I know in my conversations with the Lord I have been asking for the exposure of the ungodly things and plans done in secret. We are told here to “expose” them , the worthless deeds. How would one go about in obedience ‘exposing worthless deeds of evil and darkness. Again what does that look like? KC
I don’t know what that looks like on a very practical level, but it does say in scripture that the light will expose the darkness.
“But all things become visible when they are exposed by the light [of God’s precepts], for it is light that makes everything visible.”
Ephesians 5:13 AMP https://www.bible.com/1588/eph.5.13.amp
My thoughts at this point are that we continue to pray to see these things exposed.

Revelation 18:3-5 New Living Translation (NLT)
3 For all the nations have fallen
because of the wine of her passionate immorality.
The kings of the world
have committed adultery with her.
Because of her desires for extravagant luxury,
the merchants of the world have grown rich.”
4 Then I heard another voice calling from heaven,
“Come away from her, my people.
Do not take part in her sins,
or you will be punished with her.
5 For her sins are piled as high as heaven,
and God remembers her evil deeds.
The kings of the world
have committed adultery with her.
Because of her desires for extravagant luxury,
the merchants of the world have grown rich.
This reminds me of the scripture in Timothy 6:10 that says “the love of money is the root of all evil. So much of the political and economic realm as I understand it seems to exist because of the evil taking place in secret with this desire for extravagant luxury. The inequity in the world system is horrendous and people see it , call it out and want to change and a fix but being in relationship with the father and His spirit through Yeshua’s is the only way our sinful condition is transformed!KC
Yes that is true. As much as people say they want everything equal and everyone to have the same, it has never worked and will not work because of the sin nature with in us. So with Christ as the ruler and the head is the only way that it will work and it won’t be like we or anyone else imagine it.

Leviticus 20:22-24 New Living Translation (NLT)
22 “You must keep all my decrees and regulations by putting them into practice; otherwise the land to which I am bringing you as your new home will vomit you out. 23 Do not live according to the customs of the people I am driving out before you. It is because they do these shameful things that I detest them. 24 But I have promised you, ‘You will possess their land because I will give it to you as your possession—a land flowing with milk and honey.’ I am the Lord your God, who has set you apart from all other people.
James 1:17-19 Amplified 17 Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above; it comes down from the Father of lights [the Creator and Sustainer of the heavens], in whom there is no variation [no rising or setting] or shadow [d]cast by His turning [for He is perfect and never changes]. 18 It was of His own will that He gave us birth [as His children] by the word of truth, so that we would be a kind of first fruits of His creatures [a prime example of what He created to be set apart to Himself—sanctified, made holy for His divine purposes].
Joshua 23:11-13 World English Bible (WEB)
11 Take good heed therefore to yourselves, that you love Yahweh your God.
12 “But if you do at all go back, and hold fast to the remnant of these nations, even these who remain among you, and make marriages with them, and go in to them, and they to you; 13 know for a certainty that Yahweh your God will no longer drive these nations from out of your sight; but they shall be a snare and a trap to you, a scourge in your sides, and thorns in your eyes, until you perish from off this good land which Yahweh your God has given you.
Oh okay now I see where you were going with the other scriptures. LOL
Yes this makes so much sense and so current to the situations happening in this day.
“How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, Nor stand in the path of sinners, Nor sit in the seat of scoffers! But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night. He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, Which yields its fruit in its season And its leaf does not wither; And in whatever he does, he prospers.”

I love the Caleb story.. He is a man who spent his entire life living for God’s agenda. There was a mountain not claimed and a people not driven out and he took it on in his eighties. Love this example of passionate dedication to no compromising and doing the fullness of what God commanded.

So why were the Levite’s excluded from receiving Land ?
