  1. Good morning! Here is our 1st v Job 40 World English Bible (WEB) 40 Moreover Yahweh answered Job,

2 “Shall he who argues contend with the Almighty?
He who argues with God, let him answer it.”

    3 Then Job answered Yahweh,

4 “Behold, I am of small account. What will I answer you?
I lay my hand on my mouth.
    5 I have spoken once, and I will not answer;
Yes, twice, but I will proceed no further.”

    • In verses 4-5, I think that Job came to the realization that he had said enough and it was time for him to be quiet and listen to God. I love that because it meant that he was humble and realized when he had gone far enough in the relationship and now it was his turn to listen and know that there is none like God. That is what I want, that I can have the relationship with Him where I can tell Him all my feelings and in essence spill my guts at times, but always end up worshipping and falling at His feet and being quiet to listen and hear what HE is saying.

  2. Again we see instant repentance on Jobs part after God interacts with him and out of that exchange God reveals Himself as the One far above human thoughts and ways. What a beautiful relationship they had together!

    • Yes ,somehow the enemy of God became the enemy for ‘not knowing his place’ and then after deceiving the world and our natures became corrupt ,fallen human nature expresses in arrogance the constant fighting for ‘it’s place…and sin and selfishness is born out of that it would seem.

    • This is a repeating pattern I see too.. Man misses the mark, and things start to get worse, God calls for repentance. This is the turning point for Job. Because of this response, His trial ends very suddenly and the double blessing roles in. This is something worth camping on.

  3. I have been thinking about these Job 38 to the end of 40 and realizing how shocking it ought to be for us to question God or accuse Him in any measure. I feel like these verses are so helpful in bringing my own heart back to a place a humble submission. Truly no man or group of man can fathom the details and precision and volume of God’s knowledge and wisdom.

    • I watched a program yesterday about vaccines.. The man used a very interesting demonstration. He poured out a large bag of rice on the table and said “imagine this is the number of possible pathogens, viruses, bacterias that could potentially affect your life (keeping in mind that many bacteria are actually helpful and beneficial to our bodies.” He then coloured 16 of the pile with a marker and said. “What do you think, even if we coloured 100 of these, would be protect ourselves from the millions of others still on the table?” But God for-knew all of this and created us with not only an immune system for when man fell and would have to rely on the divine design for his protection in greater measure, but God gave us His promise that we are no longer subject to the “beggarly elements of this world”… What man can never hope to accomplish God has already done for those who believe Him. This is astonishingly awesome.

    • And yet Moses for sure contended with God and argued with Him and even said, “what will the Egyptians think of you” Moses was fighting for His people, again maybe that is the difference. He also refused God’s offer to start over with Moses and maybe He was testing Moses to see if he would throw the Israelites under the bus, who knows. But He was pretty angry with the people.

  4. There is something about men of God like Job, Moses and others, how they contended with God in their interactions at time. I Love the relationship

    • It is very interesting. This position of servant priest I think is potentially one that we have the capacity to step into if we are willing. And to have the freedom, reverence, wisdom and understanding to approach God with the confidence that they had and yet from a position of total submission….

      • Ezekiel 22:29-31 World English Bible (WEB)
“29 The people of the land have used oppression and exercised robbery. Yes, they have troubled the poor and needy, and have oppressed the foreigner wrongfully. 30 “I sought for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I would not destroy it; but I found no one. 31 Therefore I have poured out my indignation on them. I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath. I have brought their own way on their heads,” says the Lord Yahweh.”

    • I actually feel like God’s big picture plan factors this in and counts on man’s God lead interventions to change the course of History. This is a central ministry that He has assigned to us in Christ. So learning how to make up the hedge and stand in the gap is a knowledge base that is essential for us to gain I think.

2 Corinthians 5:17-19 World English Bible (WEB)
17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new. 18 But all things are of God, who reconciled us to himself through Jesus Christ, and gave to us the ministry of reconciliation; 19 namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself, not reckoning to them their trespasses, and having committed to us the word of reconciliation.

  5. I agree, but I also have been reading in Habbakuk where he very much argues and contends with God and God does not have the same response to him as He does to Job. I find that interesting. Maybe because Habbakuk was contending for the people and not for himself.

      • In Habbakuk chapter 1 He starts off complaining against God vs1-4, then God replies and tells him what He is doing in vs’s 5-11, then Habbakuk comes back at God in vs’s12-17. Then in chapter 2 God again describes to Habbakuk what He is doing in the big picture, chapter 3 is Habbakuk worshipping and praising God. I just love the relationship. They talked it out. And of course Habbakuk ended up bowing to the Father. In the amplified version the first verse sort of an introduction to the prayer says, “A prayer of Habbakuk the prophet, set to wild and enthusiastic music. I love that, as it shows how excited Habbakuk was in his worship and praise of God.

        • Praise God!! That is so encouraging that we can actually share our struggles with Him.. This reminds me of the verse that actually tells us there are things we ought to be groaning about. Ezekiel 9:4 King James Version (KJV) “4 And the Lord said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof.”

  6. Rob mentioned yesterday about God’s relationship with Satan and that Satan’s accessibility to God has potentially changed since the conversation he had with God in Job. I think it is an excellent point and one worth exploring and understanding so we can perceive Satan’s position and capacities today. Luke 10:17-23 World English Bible (WEB) 17 The seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name!” 18 He said to them, “I saw Satan having fallen like lightning from heaven. 19 Behold, I give you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy. Nothing will in any way hurt you. 20 Nevertheless, don’t rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.” 21 In that same hour Jesus rejoiced in the Holy Spirit, and said, “I thank you, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for so it was well-pleasing in your sight.” 22 Turning to the disciples, he said, “All things have been delivered to me by my Father. No one knows who the Son is, except the Father, and who the Father is, except the Son, and he to whomever the Son desires to reveal him.” 23 Turning to the disciples, he said privately, “Blessed are the eyes which see the things that you see,”

  7. It is interesting in Job that God does not answers any why questions but His replies brings a humility and realization to Job that keeping silent and trusting His ways as good is the best course of action.yet in Habakkuk he certainly has a lot of questions for the Lord and God answers him. Habakkuk 2;20 seems to echo Jobs conclusion “But the Lord is in His Holy temple. Let all the earth hush and be silent before Him”

    • Yep… pretty sure that is the ultimate place our minds should be fixed. God is good, God is faithful… He knows a bunch of stuff I don’t and He is completely trustworthy. So in every circumstance I must choose to trust His nature implicitly and praise Him for His total provision and perfect heart in the midst of everything.

      • Yes I agree with that. We certainly don’t see the big picture, so we must trust Him completely and also have an ear to hear what He is saying. We come before Him in that place of humbleness and brokenness that acknowledges he alone is God and we are His humble servants. But also I am so blown away by the fact of how much He loves us, I am in continual awe of how He runs after us and wants a relationship with us. Wow

  8. Next verse which I think interestingly enough is about Satan
Job 41 ““Can you draw out Leviathan with a fish hook,
or press down his tongue with a cord?
2 Can you put a rope into his nose,
or pierce his jaw through with a hook?
3 Will he make many petitions to you,
or will he speak soft words to you?
4 Will he make a covenant with you,
that you should take him for a servant forever?
5 Will you play with him as with a bird?
Or will you bind him for your girls?
6 Will traders barter for him?
Will they part him among the merchants?
7 Can you fill his skin with barbed irons,
or his head with fish spears?
8 Lay your hand on him.
Remember the battle, and do so no more.
9 Behold, the hope of him is in vain.
Won’t one be cast down even at the sight of him?

10 None is so fierce that he dare stir him up.
Who then is he who can stand before me?
11 Who has first given to me, that I should repay him?
Everything under the heavens is mine.

    • I recently heard Perry Stone talk about this passage… He said he believed God was actually revealing to Job here the source of all of his trouble. He is basically outing Satan. Exodus 22:7 says King James Bible “If a man shall deliver unto his neighbour money or stuff to keep, and it be stolen out of the man’s house; if the thief be found, let him pay double.” So basically, if the thief is caught, he is forced to pay back double. If I am following this right, God steps in here and says to Satan, you have accused Job without cause. He has withstood the trial which has proven His heart towards me and that your accusation against Him was false. You have accused an innocent man and taken from him without legal right. and then Satan was force to pay back for the losses…. Thoughts? Not saying this is how it is.. What do you see?

  9. In a search for what things leviathan represents or symbolizes here is one quote for thought . “Leviathan symbolizes the source of evil and a direct challenge to the authority of God. While it can indicate a ‘monster of th sea .it can also represent the whole of humanity ( that hates god ) as well as the individuals that defy Him”
I would also add that this can include th world systems that hav arisen out of this arrogant defying of God… what we know as spiritual babylon.

    • If this is a description of Satan, then this last verse I think is extremely important to take note of. Humanly speaking, we are no match for the enemy. In an interesting juxtaposition, it would take pride to actually believe that one is positioned or capable to take Him on outside of the finished work of the cross. By definition, those who are prideful enough to believe that they can tame him or control him are in fact his subjects. This points me to our absolutely need to be submitted to God and trusting in His protection and covering (see Psalm 91).

  10. John 8:44 You are of your father the devil, and it is your will to practice the desires [which are characteristic] of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks what is natural to him, for he is a liar and the father of lies and half-truths.

  11. Amplified says “he looks on everything that is high( without terror) and is monarch over all the sons of pride. It seems that God is referring to Leviathon or Satan as this ‘beast” that job dares not disturb… and then it expands and says ( and now Job who are you who does not dare to disturb the beast ,yet dares resist Me the beasts creator?”
Reminds me of Matt !0;28 where it says “ do not fear those that kill the body but cannot kill the soul . Rather fear the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell”…..sobering for sure.

  12. All of our culture and ways of thinking about Satan in the entertainment world portray him as the most scary and powerful entity… in their attempts to exorcise or fight him ,but no one has accurately portrayed the proper fear and respect that our God is du as the Creator of the universe and everything in the spiritual realms including Satan himself!

  13. Praise God! I will have to go back through.. so much to chew on and think about. Blessings Dear Brothers and Sisters. Please continue to add comments if you shows you more as your meditate on these things. With love and hugs in Christ. Tomorrow we take a rest day so I will be back on Sunday.

  14. Jude 1:9 But even the archangel Michael, when he was disputing with the devil (Satan), and arguing about the body of Moses, did not dare bring an abusive condemnation against him, but [simply] said, “The Lord rebuke you!”
    Proper positioning when confronting satan.
