Treasure hunt!!!    Rich Passages to chewed upon and transformed by.

Questions these stir in my heart:

Q1: How do I prepare the soil and become a the fruitful vine/tree so often referred to in the scriptures?

Q2:  Where and how must I dwell to fully benefit from the living waters of the river of life?

Q3:What blessings promises will come upon my life as a fruitful vine/tree?

Q4: What consequences/adverse events can I anticipate if I am not a fruitful vine?

Q5:How does the Lord care for the fruitful vines?   What things both seemingly positive and negative can we anticipate as vines in His vineyard?

Q6:For another time, I want to know more about the verses that refer to us as those sent to send the vineyard….  Interesting that there seems to be verses that speak of us both as the trees/vines and others that speak of us as those sent to tend the vineyard.

Psalm 1 King James Version (KJV) “1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.  2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.  3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.  4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. 5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.  6 For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.”

Ezekiel 19:10-14 King James Version (KJV) “10 Thy mother is like a vine in thy blood, planted by the waters: she was fruitful and full of branches by reason of many waters.  11 And she had strong rods for the sceptres of them that bare rule, and her stature was exalted among the thick branches, and she appeared in her height with the multitude of her branches.  12 But she was plucked up in fury, she was cast down to the ground, and the east wind dried up her fruit: her strong rods were broken and withered; the fire consumed them.  13 And now she is planted in the wilderness, in a dry and thirsty ground.  14 And fire is gone out of a rod of her branches, which hath devoured her fruit, so that she hath no strong rod to be a sceptre to rule. This is a lamentation, and shall be for a lamentation.”

Colossians 1:9-11 King James Version (KJV)  “9 For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;10 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;  11 Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;”

Psalm 128:2-4 King James Version (KJV)  “2 For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands: happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee.  3 Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house: thy children like olive plants round about thy table.  4 Behold, that thus shall the man be blessed that feareth the Lord.”

Isaiah 27 NLT  “In that day,  sing about the fruitful vineyard.  I, the Lord, will watch over it,      watering it carefully.  Day and night I will watch so no one can harm it.      My anger will be gone.  If I find briers and thorns growing,   I will attack them;  I will burn them up—  unless they turn to me for help.  Let them make peace with me;  yes, let them make peace with me.”

John 15 King James Version (KJV) “15 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. 2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.  3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.  4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.  5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.  6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.   If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.9 As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.  10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.  11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.   12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.  13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”

Revelation 22:1-2 King James Version (KJV)  “22 And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.  2 In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.”
