“Here is your maidservant, a servant to wash the feet of the servants of my lord.” 1 Samuel 25:41
Oh how these words of Abigail in response to David’s marriage proposal have been echoing through my mind. How they sweetly convict me of my attitude towards all authority, especially my husband.
and here again in the New Testament.
25 But Jesus called them to Himself and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those who are great exercise authority over them. 26 Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant. 27 And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave— ” Matthew 20:25-27
It turns out that the heart set of a servant is one of the most pervasive themes through the whole Bible. Oh Lord that you would bring me to this attitude, this heart and mindset, this glorious humility that exceeds all that I have known, lived and experienced. In the precious powerful almighty name of my Lord and Savior Jesus.
