Why weren’t all healed?… exploring the exceptions

Mark 1:34-39

“And he healed many that were sick of divers diseases, and cast out many devils; and suffered not the devils to speak, because they knew him.  And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed. And Simon and they that were with him followed after him.  And when they had found him, they said unto him, All men seek for thee. And he said unto them, Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also: for therefore came I forth.  And he preached in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and cast out devils.”

Hmmm… many healed not all.  Why?

Mark 5:22-43 (specifically the part about the hemoraging woman)

Mark 5:22-43

And, behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet,23 And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live.24 And Jesus went with him; and much people followed him, and thronged him.25 And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years,26 And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,27 When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.28 For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.29 And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.30 And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?31 And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?32 And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing.33 But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.34 And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.35 While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further?36 As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe. 37 And he suffered no man to follow him, save Peter, and James, and John the brother of James.  38 And he cometh to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and seeth the tumult, and them that wept and wailed greatly.  39 And when he was come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth.  40 And they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out, he taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and entereth in where the damsel was lying.  41 And he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise.  42 And straightway the damsel arose, and walked; for she was of the age of twelve years. And they were astonished with a great astonishment.  43 And he charged them straitly that no man should know it; and commanded that something should be given her to eat.”

Although there was a throng of people pressing in on Jesus so hard, there was something unique and different about this woman that caused the annointing to spontaneously flow from Jesus to her.  What was it?

Mark 6:55-56

Mark 6:55-56

“And ran through that whole region round about, and began to carry about in beds those that were sick, where they heard he was.  56 And whithersoever he entered, into villages, or cities, or country, they laid the sick in the streets, and besought him that they might touch if it were but the border of his garment: and as many as touched him were made whole.”

I love when God shines the light on things for me.   It is the last line that struck me.   “as many as touched Him were restored to health.”  So Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever…   as many as touched Him who were restored.   So if I am not restored yet, means that I maybe just haven’t succeeded in pushing through the throng (doubt, unbelief, fear, bad reports etc) and actually managed to touch Jesus yet.  This is so inherently part of who He is that whatever the lady who was hemoraging did, met the conditions as did all these others, and so many as sought Him intentionally to touch and receive, received.     Perhaps part of the answer to receiving healing when we haven’t received it yet is simply to press in harder and persistently until we do.
One last thought on this last scripture, wherever Jesus was, they carried the sick to Him… So those who happened to be in a village where He was, had an easier trek.. Those who were further away, a more arduous and demanding trek..     I imagine today this applies both spiritually and spacially… so maybe it is entirely scriptural to flock to, bring the sick to, wherever Jesus Christ is Lord and ruling, as we know that a person who is fully yielded to Christ (more specifically a church and community that is fully yielded to Christ) bears the full measure of Christ Himself when they work in unity.
Ephesians 4:13 (Amp)[That it might develop] until we all attain oneness in the faith and in the comprehension of the [ full and accurate] knowledge of the Son of God, that [we might arrive] at really mature manhood (the completeness of personality which is nothing less than the standard height of Christ’s own perfection), the measure of the stature of the fullness of the Christ and the completeness found in Him.
Not saying I have a perfect understanding of scripture.. but, something to think about hey?
